Florida’s Current Incentives

We want to make solar technology as affordable as possible for our clients

Investment Tax Credit (ITC)

Solar customers to receive a tax credit equal to 30% of the cost of their solar panel system. For example a solar panel system that would cost around $16,250 would drop down to $11,375 with the 30% tax credit.

Solar and CHP Sales Tax Exemption

Florida has an exemption from paying use and sales tax on their solar panel systems.

The state’s 6% sales tax rate would make a $16,250 solar panel system cost an additional $975, making it cost a total of $17,225. On top of this, there is no additional taxes associated with any use of the solar energy system.

As you can see, this helps save hundreds and even thousands of dollars for the consumer.

Florida's Solar Property Tax Exemption

In Florida a 100% property tax exemption is provided for residential renewable energy property as well as a 80% property tax abatement for commercial properties.

This means that when you purchase and install a solar panel system in your residential property, your property assessment will not change and you will not be paying any additional taxes.

For commercial properties this 80% tax abatement will offset the initial cost of installation, thus increasing overall return on investment.

Overall, this leads to more savings than if that same consumer was located in a different state that included the taxes.

FL Net Metering

In Florida (and many other states across the country) you can sell any excess solar energy you may have back to the grid. So while you are out and about during the day and not using much electricity at your house, your solar panels can be hard at work saving you money.
